  • The AMP with Handrim is a Power Assist unit that allows the rider the ability to maneuver and control the wheelchair with small movements of the Handrim.
  • The AMP JS and AMP Handrim base, though they look alike, are different assemblies. The JS unit utilizes the Joystick Plug in location on the base unit.  The product is then turned on/off and controlled by the joystick. The Logo on the JS base Module is only a nonfunctional logo.
  • The AMP Handrim base does utilize the joystick plug in location (port) but only for charging or optional Joystick input. When not charging, the magnetic cover should remain over the port.  The Logo on the Handrim Module is a Functional Membrane on the base unit where you turn on/off the Module and can also control which mode (speed) you want to set.  After the chair is docked onto the Handrim Input Module, the rider will utilize a Bluetooth remote for easier access to put the unit into standby or adjust Modes (Speed).
  • No, while both Base Modules may resemble each other, they are completely different.
  • The JS module outriggers are rigid because the chair is controlled by the Joystick. Another identifier is the Logo on the JS module is only a Logo.
  • The Handrim module outriggers have movement in them as this is how the Module responds to the movement of the hand rim. Secondly, on the hand rim module, the Logo is an actual membrane that has On/Off and Modes (speed).
  • The Handrim Model has an Optional joystick input. You can simply plug the Joystick into the port on the Base Module and it now will respond to the joystick for input.
  • When the Joystick is plugged in utilize your wheellocks to secure the wheels like the AMP JS module.
  • Once the Joystick is plugged in you will not be able to use the Bluetooth Remote.
  • The AMP Handrim is coded E0986 as a Power Assist.
  • The AMPs by Method Mobility have been cleared to market by the FDA as of May 2023.
